What do you enjoy the most about being in the HIM field?
I love a lot of things! The variety of areas you can work in is what appealed to me. I worked in healthcare facilities for 20 years, and I enjoyed every area that I worked in. Things in healthcare have changed, but it has been interesting seeing our field change along with it. Now that I teach, I love seeing students excited about the field. I like to introduce them to all that the HIM field has to offer.
When you were a little kid, what did you dream about as your career choice?
Teacher
What do you do with your free time?
I make greeting cards. I have a “craft” room, as I call it, where I do stamping and paper crafting. I also love to try new recipes, so cooking and baking are a passion of mine.
What was your favorite subject in grade school?
Math, I like problem solving.
