Panelists

Erica Deissinger, CPC, Medical Coding Assistant Manager

  • Over 16 years of medical billing and coding experience.
  • Currently manages a team of coders reviewing charts for multiple divisions and specialties at URMC.
  • Worked as a Chiropractic Assistant with direct patient care performing Low Level Laser Therapy for sports injuries and MVA/WC cases.
  • Worked with a radiology corporation as a Billing Manager.

Kimberly Mason, CPC, Surgical Coding Manager

  • One of the surgical coding mangers for the United Business Office at the University of Rochester.
  • Manages the surgical coders for the following departments: All of surgery (which includes 14 specialties), Radiology, Urology, Neurosurgery, and Anesthesia.
  • Kimberly’s team codes the professional claims for the providers, including OR and office visits. 
  • Began career in billing and coding for Home Health aids claims.
  • Started at the University of Rochester in OB/GYN office visits and Urgent Care visits before moving to abstract coding for Transplant, Peds, Thoracic, and Trauma.
  • Experience in working the charge review, abstract coding and working denials for all her specialties.

 Kate Tiempo, CHC, Director of Compliance, URMC Office of Integrity and Compliance

  • 20 years of Compliance experience at URMC.
  • Analyzes regulatory guidelines and frequent changes in the healthcare industry.
  • Prior to joining URMC, Kate worked for the VA and achieved her CCS-P through AHIMA.
