Join us from 9:30 am – 4 pm on Sunday, June 4 at the Crowne Plaza Desmond Hotel in Albany, site of our 2023 Annual Conference, for “ICD-10-CM Diagnosis Coding Concepts and Challenges,” a daylong program conducted by Sandy Macica, MS, RHIA, CCS.

The focus will be on the most challenging issues of diagnosis coding, reimbursement issues, and how to stay current with your coding skills. There will be a mini mock exam at the conclusion of the day along with a review of the answers with your peers.

The cost of this program is $99 and includes lunch. Attendees will earn 5 CEUs.

Attendees should bring the most recent copy of the ICD-10-CM code book.

Submissions are now being accepted for NYHIMA’s 2023 Service and Recognition Awards.

These include the Distinguished Member Award, Educator Award, Literary Award, Mentor Award, Joel Schwartz Rising Star Award, Peter Micallef Volunteer Award, HIM Industry Champion Award, Outstanding Senior Student Award and Clinical Preceptor Award.

Sady Alvarado-Fischer, M.S., CDE® (she/her/ella) is a dynamic and highly sought-after, award-winning Queer, Latina speaker who is known for her energy and passion around social justice issues.

As the Vice President, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer at Excellus BlueCross BlueShield, Sady develops, leads, and executes the company’s DEI strategy. In 2019, she created and implemented what she calls the “I.D.E.A. Mindset” (inclusion, diversity, equity, and access) — which became one of the company’s seven core values in 2022.

Under her leadership, DEI went from one department’s job to everyone’s responsibility to apply an I.D.E.A. Mindset. She has led the implementation of several policies, programs, and practices that are intentional about addressing and eliminating the impact of biases in all parts of the business.

In addition to leading corporate key DEI goals, Sady works across all lines of business to identify and implement key divisional DEI-related goals.
